Aberdeen Futsal Academy are the 2023/24 Super League champions.
The dramatic finale to the title race came to a tense conclusion on Sunday night in Perth as Aberdeen defeated reigning champions PYF Saltires 6-5.
The victory caps a remarkable rise to the top of the national game as they took on their debut campaign in the top-flight.
That followed an SFL-Aberdeen triumph to earn promotion and a superb Scottish Cup victory at the first time of asking last term.
Now Aberdeen are heading for the UEFA Futsal Champions League next season after sealing the big one.
Dramatic finale
Three teams could still win the Super League going into Sunday’s matches.
Unfortunately a Letham Santos call-off ahead of their clash with Dundee left just one game on in Perth.
With those awarded points, Dundee were top of the table heading into the final match after four straight victories that included wins over their title rivals Aberdeen and PYF Saltires.
The title would be theirs if the latter two played out a draw on Sunday night. A win for PYF would set up a championship play-off decider with Dundee.
However, it was Aberdeen who came out on top.
PYF Saltires 5-6 Aberdeen
The tense clash started with neither side giving an inch.
Few chances were created until Allan Christie got free and knocked in the opener for Aberdeen on six minutes.
Conor McLaren fired in a fine equaliser but the Perth side were always playing catch-up.
Christie headed in a second before Callum Dunbar made it 3-1 from a 10-metre penalty following six fouls by PYF.
Almost immediately McLaren grabbed his second for 3-2 before a foul on the Aberdeen goalkeeper granted the visitors a second 10m penalty up the other end.
This time Conor Dow denied Dunbar before a back-post finish from Patrick Browne levelled things up again.
But Richie Petrie found space at the other end and finished from close range to send Aberdeen in 4-3 up at the break.
Once more the scores were level as Jamie Bell raced clear to make it 4-4 on 27 minutes.
But again Aberdeen pushed ahead as Dunbar broke through the PYF defence and set up Petrie for his second.
And Grant Campbell burst from the centre of the court on 36 minutes to send a deflected effort into the back of the net to make it 6-4.
Fly keeper would see Dow strike at the other end to cut the deficit to one goal as PYF piled the pressure on.
But there was no catching Aberdeen as they got the win they so badly craved.
The victory was their 10th of the campaign and second over PYF Saltires, seeing them ahead of east coast rivals Dundee by just one point.
It was a second runners-up finish for Dundee in succession while PYF had to settle for third place.
Earlier in the day Edinburgh University registered their second win of the campaign as they moved clear in second spot in Super League 2 after beating Galacticos 18-7.
